Vastu Guide: Where to Place Brass Idols in Your Home for Maximum Positive Energy
Brass idols have graced Indian homes for thousands of years — not just as objects of devotion, but as powerful anchors of positive energy. But placement matters as much as the idol itself. Put a Ganesha in the wrong corner and you may be unknowingly blocking the very energy you wish to invite.
Here is a complete, room-by-room Vastu guide to placing your brass idols correctly.

The Golden Rule: Northeast is Sacred
The northeast corner (Ishaan Kona) of any home is the most auspicious direction in Vastu Shastra — the zone of divine energy, water, and wisdom. If you have a dedicated pooja room, it should ideally be in the northeast corner. Brass idols should face east or north, and you (the worshipper) should face east while praying. Avoid south-facing idols — Vastu associates the south with Yama, the god of death.
Ganesha Idol — Near the Main Entrance
Lord Ganesha is the remover of obstacles. A brass Ganesha idol near the main entrance invites auspiciousness and removes negative energy before it can enter your home.
- Position: Wall-mounted shelf near the main door
- Direction: Idol faces inward into the house, not outward
- Height: Eye level or above — never on the floor
- Avoid: Bedroom, bathroom, or any wall shared with a toilet
Lakshmi Idol — North for Wealth
The north is governed by Kubera, lord of wealth. Place your brass Lakshmi idol in the north or northeast of your living room or pooja space, facing east or north. Never in the kitchen, bedroom, or south-facing walls.

Shiva Lingam — Northeast Corner Only
A brass Shivling carries immense Shakti and must be placed exclusively in the northeast corner of the pooja room. Never in the bedroom. Traditional Vastu recommends a Shivling no taller than the owner’s thumb for home worship. Perform regular abhishek with water, milk, or honey.
Nandi — Always Facing the Shivling
A brass Nandi must always face the Shivling directly — never placed independently. Nandi is Shiva’s devoted gatekeeper; correct placement honours this sacred relationship.

Radha-Krishna — East-Facing in Pooja Room
The Radha-Krishna pair represents divine love. Place them on the east-facing wall of your pooja room. One of the few deities Vastu permits in the bedroom — believed to strengthen relationships and bring emotional peace.
Saraswati — Study Room, East Wall
Goddess Saraswati belongs in the study room or library on the east or northeast wall. A brass Saraswati idol on a study table, facing east, is believed to enhance knowledge, focus, and learning.
Hanuman — South Direction
Lord Hanuman is one of the few deities associated with the south in Vastu. A brass Hanuman idol on the south wall, facing north, protects the home from negative energies and evil eye.

5 Locations to Absolutely Avoid
- On the floor — Always use a wooden, marble, or brass platform
- Bathroom or toilet-adjacent walls — A serious Vastu violation for any deity
- Under a staircase — Highly inauspicious for sacred objects
- Facing directly into a wall — The idol needs open space ahead for energy to flow
- Cluttered or dusty spaces — Vastu requires cleanliness for divine energy to remain active
