Brass Care Guide
Looked after well, brass, copper and bronze pieces stay beautiful for generations. Here's how to care for yours.
Everyday care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth. For most pieces, that's all that's needed to keep them looking their best.
What to avoid
- Harsh chemicals and acidic cleaners.
- Metal-polishing or brass-shining liquids — these can strip the finish or protective lacquer.
- Prolonged exposure to water and moisture.
Lacquered / coated pieces
Many of our idols have a protective coating to preserve their shine. For these, simply dust — do not apply polish or water.
A natural patina
Over time, brass and copper may develop a deeper, antique-like tone. This is a natural part of the metal ageing and is often prized — it doesn't mean the piece is damaged.
